On Apr. 6th, at the invitation of IRSM, Professor John P. Cater, who is from Newcastle University, the Australian academy of engineering, and Director of International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG) visits IRSM and delivers an academic report with the title Prediction of Ground Subsidence due to Single-seam and Multi-seam Longwall mining. Director of SKLGME Researcher FENG Xiating hosts the seminar.

Professor Cater has been engaged geotechnical mechanics numerical analysis method and the modeling and soil structure interaction, and other related research. Research results are widely used in soft soil engineering, tunnel excavation, and marine foundation. In the report, Professor Cater explains the mechanism, numerical simulation and prediction of ground subsidence due to single-seam and multi-seam longwall mining.
