Prof. LI Haibo received his BEng degree in Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering from Zhengzhou University in 1992, and his PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1999. From 1998 to 2000, he worked as a research assistant at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and as a research fellow in Kyoto University under the support of JSPS.

Prof. LI is now the director of Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Hubei Geo-environmental Engineering Key Laboratory.

His research interests covers Rock dynamics, Rock mechanics and Engineering. Prof. LI have published more than 80 technical papers, and received many prestigious awards, such as Science & Technology Award for Youth and Awards for Development of Science and Technology of Hubei Province (the first prize)
