Andrew Feitz,Andrew Barrett and Jessica Gurney from Geoscience Australia visit IRSM on Nov 18. Experts have discussion on the latest progress of environmental geological hazard monitoring technology in CCS process. The exchange meeting is hosted by researcher LI Qi from IRSM.

Dr Andrew Feitz gives a speech with the title CCS Environmental Monitoring in Australia, he elaborates on monitoring achievements and the latest progress of CCS demonstration project Otway and Gorgon. With deep fluid sampling (-1500m), 3D earthquake image, shallow layer groundwater monitoring (-50m) and aeronautical radar surface image, Dr Andrew Feitz shows the monitoring system of CCS demonstration project in Australia.

Researcher LI Qi looks back at the academic exchange experience with GA and introduces landmark research achievements of his research team. He then focuses on basic application achievements of IRSM in the CCS geologic environment monitoring field. Experts from Australia and IRSM have further discussion on distribution and leakage features of CO2 leakage in sealing area. GA experts are very interested in new shallow well sampling monitoring system and related research achievements developed by IRSM.

Dr Andrew and other GA experts visit CCS research equipment in State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering after the report.
