Rock and Soil Mechanics and Engineering Academic Forum is held in IRSM on Oct 24. Dr WU Wei from Stanford University is invited to have academic exchange at the forum; he delivers a speech with the title Shale Permeability Evolution under Carbon Dioxide Injection.

Dr WU is an expert in research on laboratory test. He begins his speech with the introduction to current shale gas exploitation, and then elaborates on the research method and test equipment he uses. Dr WU studies the mechanism and fracture development in shale under carbon dioxide injection with the test equipment he developed. Basing on his scientific research experiences overseas, Dr WU comments on the current situation of scientific research in Stanford University and domestic universities. He has further discussion with teachers and students form IRSM on shale gas exploitation and test problems at the end of his speech.

Director JIAO Yuyong of Scientific Research Department hosts the academic forum; researchers from IRSM are present at the meeting and have further communication with Dr WU Wei. Researchers are impressed by the diligent research attitude and broad research vision of Doctor WU.
