Professor PENG Jianbing from Institute of Geological Hazard Prevention in Chang’an University visits IRSM on Sep 28. He delivers an academic report with the title Stories of Earth Fissures and Meditations of Research on Loess Disaster. The symposium is hosted by researcher KONG Lingwei.

Professor PENG illustrates the formation mechanism of earth fissures from 6 aspects; he puts forward earth fissures coupling formation theory and hazard prevention measures. Peng also discuss on the loess disaster formation and prevention with ten questions.

Professor PENG Jianbing has long been engaged in the teaching and research on engineering geological hazard; he is now the director of Institute of Geological Hazard Prevention in Chang’an University; and Director of Key Laboratory of Western Mineral Resources and Geological Engineering. PENG devotes himself to the research on engineering geology of regional stability, geological hazard science and engineering; he is successful in the research on natural law of earth fissures and loess hazard prevention. With the research in more than 20 years, Professor PENG and his research team obtain a series of academic achievements in research of earth fissures in Xi’an, providing powerful technology supports to the hazard prevention.
