Director JIN Zhijun and geologists from Sinopec Exploration and Production Research Institute (SEPRI) visit IRSM on April 28. Researcher YANG Chunhe reports the project progress of Research on Mechanics Test and Fracture Prediction of Mud Shale. The achievements in fracture description and prediction of mud shale are highly regarded by experts. Due to the strong connection between mud shale and oil gas sealing, the sealing of natural gas has higher request for mud shale cap rock. Experts from IRSM and SEPRI have further discussion on technology of mud shale fracture prediction and cap rock evaluation. According to the effects of different mineral composition to mud shale mechanical characteristic, the discussion focus on stimulating cap rock lifting process by unloading test, revealing mud shale fracture formation and evolution mechanism.

Director JIN Zhijun hopes that IRSM and SEPRI could establish long term cooperation mechanism with mutual trust, and make breakthrough in mud shale cap rock evaluation technology.

JIN Zhijun is the academician of CAS, present director of Sinopec Petroleum Exploration and Production Institute. He has long been engaged in scientific research and education in petroleum geology, he makes innovative achievements in marine oil and gas exploration theory, petroleum accumulation mechanism and resource evaluation, petroleum accumulation effect of deep fluid. The evaluation method and index of low limit value of organic carbon content in marine carbonate source rocks JIN defined has become the new recommended standard of oil gas resource evaluation. JIN won 2 Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 First Prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 First Prize of Technology Innovation Award. He has published 155 papers, 4 books, 1 translated book and 1 textbook. His papers have been cited 167 times, and his books have been cited 1539 times.
