Recently, The construction of Hubei Provincial Engineering Lab of Underwater Tunnel Technology is approved by Hubei Development and Reform Commission. The lab is jointly supported by China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group Co.,Ltd., IRSM and China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd.

The lab relies on existed underwater tunnel engineering programs and other tunnel engineering programs about to be constructed. By building a full process simulation test platform of underground tunnel exploitation, design, construction and operation, the lab develops new underwater tunnel construction technology, major equipment research and major technology criteria. The lab is expected to become the innovation base of new technology and products in the field, to lead the transform and demonstration of scientific achievements, to support new equipment development and the establishment of underwater rock and soil mechanism theory.

Hubei Provincial Engineering Research Center (Engineering Lab) is an important part of regional industry innovation system construction. The lab aims to solve key technology and equipment problems in industry development, and promote industrial technology progress and structure adjustment.
