On August 18, West Light visiting scholar evaluation meeting is held by IRSM, associate professor Lei Jinbo from Nanchang Hang Kong University reports his research work during the one year period as visiting scholar of West Light, the report is commonly appraised by evaluation group consists of leaders and experts from IRSM. The meeting is hosted by vice director Wang Daguo, he highly appreciates the work of Doctor Lei Jinbo as the visiting scholar of West Light, Wang also fully affirmed support from cooperation supervisor Chen Congxin and relevant departments, he hopes that through talent cultivation plan such as West Light, our institute could fully use the advantage of talent cultivation and provides great contribution to the implementation of national talent strategy.
Associate professor Lei Jinbo, vice secretary of party committee of Civil Construction College, Nanchang HangKong University, was selected to work as visiting scholar of West Light from September 2009 to August 2010.
IRSM pay great attention to visiting scholar work of West Light, the institute arranges doctoral supervisor Chen Congxin, leader of Slope Engineering Group, State Key Laboratory of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, to be the cooperation supervisor. Meanwhile, it tries to provide pleasant working environment and living condition.
During the one year period of research work, Doctor Lei Jinbo is invited to take part in various academic activities. As the academic assistant, Doctor Lei Jinbo has joint Chen Congxin's project Stability Research of Newly Built Supermajor Bridge Anchorage and Slope of XiJiang NanGuang Railway, Study on the Impact of Old Coal Mining Area to Subgrade Stability in Guizhou Provincial Highway from Renhuai to Chishui. Doctor Lei Jinbo take active part in national academic meeting and leading forum of rock subject, he listens carefully to academic lectures given by counterparts from home and abroad, adopt the course Elasticity and Plasticity from famous scholar Liu Xila. IRSM also emphasizes on bilateral exchange of visiting scholars of West Light, Doctor Lei is invited to deliver the academic report Composite Foundation Deformation Mechanism and Settlement Calculation of Rigid Pile with Cap. Lei has also introduced young talents to Jiangxi Province, he recommended 2 doctor graduates to teach in Jiangxi.
Through the research work and exchange as visiting scholar of West Light, Doctor Lei Jinbo acquires the subject development of rock mechanics and engineering. He is familiar with the research idea and methods of IRSM, his innovation ability and scientific research level increases accordingly, he also plays an important role in connecting IRSM and Nanchang HangKong University, he promots the strategic cooperation of the two. During the one year period, Lei has written 8 academic these, 5 of which are accepted; he accomplishes 1 application for national natural science, 1 application for Jiangxi Provincial natural science foundation, 1 application for Guangdong power grid supporting project, 3 application for national practical new-type patent. He has received tremendous achievements in a year, which are highly approved by the evaluation group and commonly evaluated as outstanding grade.
Visiting Scholar of West Light is a west area talent cultivation plan jointly implemented by Organization Department of CPC Central Committee, Education Department, Science and Technology Department and CAS, a group of young scientific and research talents will be selected from west area and Jiangxi Province to do research in universities and scientific research institutes for a year. The project started from 2004, it selects 200 talents each year.
