Training Course on Intelligent Analysis Method of Rock Mechanics and Engineering Held in IRSM

In recent years, intelligent rock mechanics analysis method has made significant progress and received a series of research achievements, establishing a full set of intelligent analysis and calculation method system of comprehensive theory basis, successfully appling to many major complex rock projects. 

To promote the popularization and application of innovative research achievements, enable more technological and design staff to master technological way of solving practical engineering problems with intelligent analysis method, and cultivate a group of outstanding talents familiar with intelligent analysis and calculation method, State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, IRSM, CAS hold a training course on intelligent Analysis Method of Rock Mechanics and Engineering on June 15 to 17, 2011. There are 132 learners joining the training course in total, including postgraduates from universities and colleges, technological staff from scientific research institutions and construction design institutions.

The courses are given by Professor Feng Xiating, from State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and his team members, they have also compiled a specialized training book for the courses. The training include contents as follows: intelligent analysis method principle including ANN (artificial neural network), support vector machine, genetic programming, genetic algorithm, particle, evolutionary neural network, evolutionary support vector machine, particle support vector machine, etc; basic steps and computer practice scheme of solving rock mechanics and engineering problems; implementation steps and points of attention of practical engineering application, software introduction and key parameters setting, case analysis and computer practice.

IRSM highly emphasizes on the training course, it is jointly organized and planned by Department of Personnel and Education and Chief Engineer's Office, held by State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. According to the statistical result of Training Quality Questionnaire feedback information about the training course, the training course is with high quality, more than 90% learners are satisfied with it. The learners commonly agree that the course combines theory method illustration-case analysis and computer practice, teachers impart their latest research achievements to the learners, giving them the latest progress of intelligent analysis method, the training brings much help to solving rock engineering problem with intelligent analysis method, increases learner's ability to deal with practical engineering problems.
