First Master Class of Unconventional Natural Gas Development Rounded Off in Wuhan

The First Master Class of Unconventional Natural Gas Development is held by IRSM in Wuhan on Nov 27. Professor LIU Jishan from IRSM, professor Derek Elsworth from Pennsylvania State University and professor Zhongwen Chen from University of Queensland give lessons as famous experts in unconventional natural gas development. 23 students are included in the class.

Professor LIU Jishan begins the class with an opening speech at 10:00. The first lesson is given by professor Elsworth; he introduces the global warming caused by CO2 emission, explains the relationship between CO2 emission and economic development, and describes treatment measures. He goes on with the discussion of problems brought by unconventional natural gas development, and completes his lesson with shale gas exploitation.

Professor Chen from University of Queensland hosts the training in the afternoon. Students from China University of Mining & Technology and IRSM, and researcher from SKLGME deliver speeches about diffusion coefficient evolution model, formation mechanism and mechanical properties of shallow gassy sand of Hangzhou Bay, and theory of hydraulic fracturing. Teachers and students have a heated discussion in class. Professor LIU jishan explains scientific research in his closing speech.
