Advanced Seminar of Rock Engineering Design Method Held in Wuhan

The 3rd Advanced Seminar of Intelligent Dynamic Design Method of Rock Engineering is held in Wuhan on Dec 20 to 22. The seminar is hosted by Chinese Academy of Science(CAS), Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics(IRSM) and State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering(SKLGME) work as organizers. Famous professors from home and abroad are invited as keynote speakers in the seminar, including President FENG Xiating of International Society of Rock Mechanics(ISRM)and Professor LIU Jishan from University of Western Australia. More than 100 trainees from institutes, universities, survey companies, design and construction companies are present at the seminar.

Intelligent Dynamic Design Method of Rock Engineering is jointly proposed and established by Professor John Hudson from The Royal Academy of Engineering and innovation team leaded by FENG Xiating. The method is successfully applied in several large-scale hydropower and transportation projects at home and abroad. Rock Engineering Design, which introduces the design method is already published by Taylor & Francis in June 2011. The dynamic design method is considered as the most important progress in 50 year. To promote the application of innovative scientific research achievements, the advanced seminar aims to familiarize scientific researchers and technicians with rock engineering dynamic design and analysis method.

The Advanced Seminar held in 2011 and 2012 won special fund from CAS and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the 1st and 2nd Advanced Seminar were highly praised by scientific researchers and technicians. The seminar is also supported by special fund from CAS this year.
