2012 Annual Academic Committee Meeting Held

On Dec 30, State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (SKLGME) holds 2012 Annual Academic Committee Meeting successfully. Chairman of Academic Committee, members of the committee, leaders from IRSM, director of SKLGME and other leaders are all present at the meeting.

Director LI Haibo reads an address of welcome at the beginning of the meeting. Leaders of SKLGME reports to the Academic Committee the scientific research projects undertaken by the laboratory in 2012, his report also includes payment, research achievement, talent introduction and cultivation, as well as academic communication of SKLGM. Chairman of the laboratory also reports the research progress of their projects, including Non-linear Mechanics Characteristics of Geotechnical Medium and Multiphase Coupling Theory; Large-Scale Numerical Simulation and Intelligent Analyzing Method of Rock and Soil Mechanics; Multiscale Testing Method and Digital Monitoring Technology of Rock-soil Body; Interaction Rule and Control Technology of Rock-soil Body and Project Structure.

The Academic Committee fully affirms the achievements of SKLGME, including more than 200 SCI and EI papers, 3 books, a Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, 4 Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as more than 70 invention patent, utility model patent and software copyrights. Members of the committee agree that the laboratory has made remarkable progress in rock burst and strain softening mechanism. In the safety evaluation of rock salt gas storage, research of CO2 underground Sealing Technology and natural gas hydrate, SKLGME has outstanding characteristics. The Academic Committee suggests that the laboratory should stress the key points according to international academic frontiers and national needs. The laboratory wins the approval from the committee in talent introduction and cultivation.

Experts from the Academic Committee have examined 15 proposals of 2012 open projects. Based on secret ballot, 10 applicants win supporting fund of 500,000yuan in total.
