The advanced training project on Intelligent Dynamic Designing Method of Rock Engineering is held in Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM) in Wuhan from Sep 12 to 15. The research project is jointly hosted by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China (MOHRSS) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), IRSM serves as the organizer. More than 129 students are present at the training class, including technicians from research institutes, universities; survey, design and construction companies; and some postgraduates.
With the economy booming in China, the major rock and soil project construction is facing a series of technical difficulties including high ground stress, high permeability and complicated geological environment. The Intelligent Dynamic Designing Method of Rock Engineering is one of the efficient solution to these technical difficulties, the method is also helpful to improve engineering quality and decrease engineering cost. The Intelligent Dynamic Designing Method of Rock Engineering is jointly proposed and built by FENG Xiating, Director of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and John A Hudson, academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering. The method wins recognition and praise from famous experts and ISRM. The theory and method are already applied to scientific research and project study at home and abroad, solving many technical difficulties in domestic project design and stability analysis. Rock Engineering Design, the English book demonstrating the Intelligent Dynamic Designing Method of Rock Engineering, is published by CRC of Taylor & Francis company in June 2011.
The Advanced Training Project is taught by professor FENG Xiating. He gives a lecture on the general outline of the Intelligent Dynamic Design Method of Rock Engineering. Feng also invites academician ZHENG Yingren to teach the Application of Finite Element Limit Analysis Method in Rock and Soil Engineering. Meanwhile, Professor YANG Chengxiang from Northeastern University, researcher ZHANG Chuanqing and JIANG Quan from IRSM give lectures on the Application of Neural Network in Rock Engineering Construction Design, Dynamic Design Method and Application of Deep-Lying Tunnel, Dynamic Design Method and Application of Deep-Buried Cavern Group. Students learn the latest research achievements of Intelligent Dynamic Design Method of Rock Engineering from the training class.
