On 13th Oct, discussing meeting of CO2 geological utilization and storage of SNG program is held by CO2 Aquifer Storage Group of IRSM and CNOOC New Energy Investing Co., Ltd. Researcher Li Xiaochun and Doctor Wei Ning from CO2 Aquifer Storage Group of IRSM, Doctor Chang Le from CNOOC New Energy Investing Co., Ltd have attended the discussing meeting. This meeting marks the formal start of this cooperative program.

At the beginning of the meeting, Doctor Wei Ning introduces the preparation construction of the program. In order to choose the best technology scheme, propose possible technological economic risk and preliminary solution scheme, and provide decision reference for CO2 emission reduction of CNOOC CCS program,  they will focus on CO2 geological utilization and storage scheme of CNOOC Ordos and Datong SNG program, use CCS scheme, Site Screening Methodology and CCS database to do technological economic contrast analysis.

Afterwards, basing on the principles of Technical feasibility, Economic optimization and Capacity sufficiency, the both sides discuss on screening, CO2 geological utilization and storage scheme carefully, they come to a wild consensus, setting fine foundation for CNOOC CCS technology research and development and  implementation of future CCS program.

To realize the sustainable development of economy, CO2 emission problem needs an urgent solution. The implement of CO2 geological storage technology will be beneficial for promoting the technology level in CCS field of our country, it will also lay technological base for large-scale CCS program scheme selection and storage site screening. The implement will definitely bring demonstration and promoting effect to the ability of emission reduction of enterprises, it has broad market application prospect and remarkable social benefits.
