Recently, IRSM receives a letter of thanks from Hainan Mining Co., Ltd, expressing their gratitude to researcher Li Xiaochun and Doctor Cui Yingxiang of IRSM for their active contribution to Hainan Mining safe production.

Shilu Iron Ore, which Hainan Mining belongs to, has abundant and various mineral resources; it is called The Richest Iron Ore in Asia, and attracts great attention in China, leaders such as Zhu De, Ye Jianying, Zhu Rongji has visited and investigated the mine. After mining for a few decades, the height of west wall slope of the first north mining stope reaches 410m, with the effect of natural disasters such as heavy rain, the slope rock mass is displacing seriously, there are more than 30 cracks on slope surface, seriously endangering the safety and production of this mining area.

To solve the urgent problem, scientific research team leaded by researcher Li Xiaochun, Doctor Cui Yinxiang puts forward a series of emergency treatment programs, they are fearless of danger and difficulties, work with the construction enterprise at the forefront of treatment project in the hot sun. With their endeavor, the emergency treatment program is smoothly accomplished 2 months later. In September 2008, the slope stands heavy rainfall of 223.2mm successfully. Afterwards, they had a series of investigation and research on the rock mass structure of the mining area, including slope geology, annual rainfall, typhoon and other natural disasters, proposing and implementing treatment measures. From August 6 to 9 in 2009, Hainan province is heavily damaged by the seventh typhoon Swan, especially Changjiang area, the rainfall reaches 653.7mm, after the treatment, the west wall slope of the first north mining stope stands the test of this strong typhoon.

In recent years, IRSM make full use of its scientific technology advantage, faces to major strategical needs of the country, closely focuses on local economic construction development and makes active efforts, IRSM has obtained a series of practical achievements.
