According to the permission notice from National Natural Science Fund of China, 26 programs from Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics(IRSM) are supported by National Natural Science Fund in 2013, including 1 Key Program Fund, 1 Major International Cooperation and Communication Program, 13 General Program Fund, 10 Distinguished Young Scholars Fund, and 1 Outstanding Youth Science Fund Program. IRSM wins financial aid of 21.33 million Yuan totally.

National Natural Science Fund of China is one of the main channels for basic national research, and the key source of basic research programs of IRSM. To improve the program quality proposed to national fund, IRSM makes great efforts in researcher encouragement, experience exchange and research team coordination. In 2013, IRSM has proposed 83 programs, 26 of them are supported by National Natural Science Fund, with the supporting rate of 31%. Meanwhile, 11 of the 24 proposed programs are supported by National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, with the supporting rate of 41.6%, which exceeds the average supporting rate of 24.45%.
