Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Award Meeting is held on June 14th in Wuhan. 306 technology achievements from college, scientific research institutes and enterprises win Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Award of 2010 on the meeting, 6 of the awards go to achievements from IRSM(Wuhan), CAS.
5 achievements from IRSM(Wuhan), including Rock Mechanics Theory, Evaluation System and Key Salt Cavern Construction Technology of Laminated Salt Rock Oil and Gas Underground Storage, Evaluation Technology and Engineering Application of Passenger Dedicated Railway Settlement Deformation, primarily contributed by IRSM(Wuhan); Research and Application of Tunnel Laser Orientation and Deformation Monitoring System, Interaction Theory and Engineering Application of Rock-Soil Mass and Water, Slope Progressive Rupture Mechanism and Stability Control Technology of Hydropower Project under Complicated Water Environment partly contributed by IRSM(Wuhan) are awarded the first prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, Study on Surface Movement Regularity and Surface Structure Safety Countermeasures of Iron Mine East District of WIS(Wuhan Iron and Steel Corp.) Jinshan Branch wins the second prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
Leaded by the idea Face to the Leading Edge of World Science, Face to the Major Demand of China, IRSM highly emphasizes application and transformation of scientific research achievements, most of which win many local, provincial and national science and technology awards every year. In 2010, 3 achievements primarily contributed by the institute were awarded the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, another 2 won the first prize of provincial award; besides, 5 of the achievements partly contributed by the institute won the first prize of provincial technology award(4 of progress award, 1 of natural science award). This definitely displays the feature and ability of scientific research serving local economic construction and solving key technological problems in major national projects.
