On Nov 6th, IRSM holds Program Start-up and Seminar of Slope Engineering Geological Hazard Research Center, as well as Symposium on National Key Laboratory Operation, Management and Suggestion in Mengtianhu Hotel.

The Program Start-up and Seminar is hosted by Zheng Hong, the vice president of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. The subject leaders of slope center, Chen Congxin, Ren Weizhong, Wang Shuilin, Liu Jian and researchers He Huaijian, Zhang Yujun, Sheng Qian from Scientific research department, are present at the conference. On the conference, Zheng Hong announces the start-up of IRSM Slope Engineering Geological Hazard Research Center, researchers discuss on scientific problems of slope engineering research and the future developing direction, combining their research achievements. 

The document Symposium on National Key Laboratory Operation, Management and Suggestion is hosted by researcher Wei Changfu—Vice Director of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering . Party Secretary Wang Daguo, Heads of related departments and secretary of the laboratory have attended the seminar of National Key Laboratory Operation, Management and Suggestion. In the discussion, everyone puts forward preliminary view and suggestions on fund management, talent cultivation and appraisal mechanism.

Secretary Wang said, the start-up of Slope Engineering Geological Hazard Research Center is another implementation of Innovation 2020 and 135 program of IRSM, "To contribute to the research of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering , our institute will gather scientific and research resource to make new breakthrough on slop related research." added Wang. Vice Director Wei Changfu and Zheng Hong also said, the fund and work of the research center will be fully supported and guaranteed after its start-up. Communication platform and regular meetings will be supported to promote the exchange of research process and academic innovation.

According to the Innovation 2020 Program and 135 Development Strategy of IRSM, in order to gain more major projects and develop more major achievements, the institute will adjust and integrate scientific and research resource, arrange major cultivation projects, promote the construction and development of 3 research centers and 5 research offices.  As one of the 3 important centers, the Slope Engineering Geological Hazard Research Center will organize a comprehensive research team leaded by academicians and consisted of talented young scientists. The center strives for breakthrough in slope safety evaluation theory and control technology, as well as catastrophe risk evaluation and control technology system.
