According to the notice from National Natural Science Fund of China, 34 programs from Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics(IRSM) are supported by National Natural Science Fund in 2014, including 1 Key Program, 1 National Key Instrument Research Program, 19 General Program, and 13 Young Scientists Fund. IRSM wins fund of 30.32 million Yuan totally.

National Natural Science Fund of China is one of the main channels of national support to basic research. It is also the key source of fund for basic research program of IRSM. To improve the program quality proposed to national fund, IRSM makes great efforts in researcher encouragement, experience exchange and research team coordination. In 2014, IRSM has proposed 76 programs, 34 of them are supported by National Natural Science Fund, with the supporting rate of 44.74%. Meanwhile, 19 of the 39 proposed programs are supported by General Program, with the supporting rate of 48.72%, which exceeds the average supporting rate of 22.46%. The young scientific research talents are growing rapidly, the quantity of programs proposed and approved is also increasing significantly in 2014. IRSM proposed 24 Young Scientists Fund, and 13 of them are approved, increasing the supporting rate to 54.2%.
