The recommendation activity of TOP 100 Newspapers is organized by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television(SARFT). 300 newspapers and journals are recommended as the Top 100 Newspapers, Top 100 Social Science Journals and Top 100 Science and Technology Journals. Within more than 5000 science and technology journals, Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CJRME) is selected as one of Top 100 Science and Technology Journals; CJRME is the only journal of rock and soil engineering in Top 100 Science and Technology Journals. There are 5 science and technology journals selected in Hubei Province.

Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CJRME)started in 1982. It is an academic publication under the auspice of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering which published monthly mainly in Chinese. Its main scope is focused on the issues of rock mechanics and rock engineering.

The Journal reports latest developments in rock mechanics and rock engineering development in detail. For its outstanding effects on geotechnical engineering, it receives many honors recently, such as the 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China 2003, 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China 2005, The Selected Scientific Journal of Chinese Association for Science and Technology,etc.

To establish complete journal evaluation system and incentive mechanism,and foster a batch of outstanding journals with strong public opinion leading ability, market competitiveness and broadcasting ability, SARFT carries out the recommendation activity of Top 100 Journals. With the recommendation and expert review of provincial Publishing & Press Bureau and central journal competent organizations, SARFT determines the lists of Top 100 Newspapers, Top 100 Social Science Journals and Top 100 Science and Technology Journals. This is the first time that SARFT has published the recommendation lists of outstanding journals to the public.
