On Jan 24, Engineering Investigation Standardization Technology Committee of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development holds expert review meeting in Wuhan, the Technical Regulation of Domestic Waste Soil Geotechnical Test(referred to as Regulation) compiled by Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics(IRSM) is approved at the review meeting.

Standard Quota Research Institute of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Investigation and Geotechnical Engineering Standard Technology Authorities, 9 experts from Rock and Soil Engineering, Environment Earthwork and Solid Waste Disposal Engineering, together with other representatives are all present at the meeting. The review meeting is hosted by GUO Mingtian from Standardization Technology Committee. Deputy Director KONG Lingwei from IRSM attends the meeting, he introduces the basic information of IRSM, the 135 plan and construction of solid waste subject platform. Engineer DONG Yixin and LIN Changqing from Standard Quota Research Institute of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development put forward specific requests to the review group. The review committee consists of Chairman GONG Biwei, Deputy Chairman GUO Xiangxin and SHI Jianyong.

The expert group listen to the report of researcher XUE Qiang from IRSM, with careful review and discussion about the Regulation, the experts come to an agreement that the Technical Regulation of Domestic Waste Soil Geotechnical Test has complete review documents which are substantial in content, it is in accord with requests of Project Construction Standard Drafting Rule. The editing group combines test achievements and experiences of waste soil geotechnical test from home and abroad, editors consider the inhomogeneity of waste soil and draw up the Regulation based on large amount of investigation and test research. According to the special engineering properties of waste soil, the Regulation makes explicit rules for different sample size, testing equipments, and test methods. The innovativeness of Technical Regulation of Domestic Waste Soil Geotechnical Test has reached the international advanced level.

Technical Regulation of Domestic Waste Soil Geotechnical Test is the first technology standard about domestic waste soil geotechnical test internationally, the release and implementation of Regulation will further promote and standardize the technology method of domestic waste soil geotechnical test. With the goal of unifying the test method of basic engineering properties of domestic waste soil, Regulation is devoted to supply basis to the construction and operation of domestic waste soil landfill, as well as the measurement of safety evaluation parameters. The Regulation has practical significance to the reasonable design and safe operation of domestic waste landfill in China.
