On June 14, Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Award Conference is held in Wuhan East Lake Hotel, 326 science and technology achievements are awarded Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Award of 2011.

The two achievements The Key Technology and Application of Tunnel Engineering Stability Control under Complex Climate and Geological Condition, and The Analysis Method and Control Technology of Rock Mass of Cracked Structure, which are mainly accomplished by IRSM, win The Frist Prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress.Two other achievements, The Control Technology of Long Term Performance of Road Treatment Subgrade,and The Engineering Application and Study on Surrounding Rock of Complex Underground Cavern Group, which are partly accomplished by IRSM are awarded The Second Prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress.

As the fundamental application research institution closely related to project construction, Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics(IRSM) is placing great importance on the transformation of science and technology achievements; focusing on the three stratigical demands including safety and disaster control of national major projects, efficient and safe development of deep resource and energy, as well as geological disposal and utilization of wastes.
