On May 24, on  the second talent work leading group work meeting of CAS 2010 , Professor John Antony Hudson recommonded by IRSM, is supported by CAS Visiting Professorship. This is the first time that IRSM wins the support.

CAS Visiting Professorship is the overseas outstanding science and technology talents introduction plan proposed and implemented by CAS in 2009. By attracting outstanding foreign senior researchers to join in programs of IRSM, the program aims to strengthen contacts with foreign national scientific research institutions,  researchers from universities and enterprises; and to promote technology innovation and independent innovation ability by taking advantage of international intelligence resource.

Professor John Antony Hudson is the current professor of Imperial College London, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, President of ISRM, President of International Cooperation Research Program DECOVALEX, he enjoys high reputation in international rock mechanics field. Professor Hudson put forward technical audit methods for rock mechanics systematic theory, ground stress design and rock engineering design, the methods are wildly applied in major rock engineering design of England, America, Sweden, Finland and other developed countries. Hudson has published 5 books and more than 500 academic theses.

There is a long time cooperation base between Professor Hudson and IRSM, he has been serving as the part-time researcher of IRSM since 2003. By keeping on cooperation with Professor Hudson, it is easier for us to absorb and refer to overseas rock engineering research experiences, broaden our vision, and strengthen international competitiveness and impact.
