From Dec 3rd  to 4th, IRSM holds the seminar of Underground Engineering Research Center establishment and major projects initiation. Many members of IRSM are present at the seminar, including Director Li Haibo; Secretary Wang Daguo; Feng Xiating, President of ISRM and Director of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; Zheng Hong, Vice Director of State Key Laboratory of of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; researcher Wang Chuanying, Wang Shuilin, Jiao Yuyong and Zhou Hui from Underground Engineering Research Center. Other scientific researchers and heads of related departments have also attended the meeting. The seminar is hosted by Wang Daguo.

On the seminar, Feng Xiating gives a general introduction of underground engineering research center and major projects initiation; Wang Chuanying delivers a lecture on Fine Recognition and Network Model and of Deep Rock Mass Structure; Jiao Yuyong reports on Three Dimensional Discontinuous Numerical Method of Deep Rock Mass Deformation and Fracture; Dai Yonghao, as the representative of Slope Engineering Program Group, reports on Deep Soft Rock Squeeze Flow Deformation Mechanism and its Stability Control; Doctor Lu Xingli, as the representative of Underground Engineering Project Group, gives a lecture on Deep Roadway Deformation Mechanism and Control; Li Shaojun reports on Hard Discontinuities Mechanism and Control of High Strength Rock Burst Development. Participants of the seminar discuss enthusiastically on these projects and come to a mutual agreement.

Wang Daguo says, the establishment of Underground Engineering Research Center and the initiation of major projects are important measures responding to Innovation 2020 and 135 Plan. Our institute will offer full supports of research talents and research funds and strive for a breakthrough in deep rock mechanics engineering research.

Li Haibo stresses, according to the developing strategy Innovation 2020 and 135 Plan, IRSM will integrate and adjust scientific research resource, organize major cultivation program, and promote the construction and development of 3 research centers, 4 research offices. The institute will take full advantage of teamwork, improve the ability of winning major projects and gaining major achievements.
