The 5th Cross-strait Conference on Structural and Geotechnical Engineering is held on 13 to 15 July in Hong Kong. The conference is organized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and co-organized by Zhejiang University and National Taiwan University, it intends to develop and improve cross-strait academic exchanges and cooperation of structural and geotechnical engineering, and to review trends in academic development and engineering application. Academician Ge Xiurun is invited to attend the conference and deliver a keynote lecture Original Site Preservation Program of Bai-He-Liang Ancient Hydrological Inscription - The World's First Culture Site Underwater Museum. He also jointly host the special lecture with academician Li Zhuofen in the afternoon, July 13.
Academician Ge proposes innovation scheme of ancient Bai-He-Liang underwater preservation based on the idea of non-pressure container. Bai-He-Liang preservation project starts on Feb 13, 2003 and opens on May 18, 2009, as the world's only site underwater museum, it provides successful program example for original site preservation of underwater culture heritage. Original Site Preservation Program of Fulin Bai-He-Liang Hydrological Inscription wins the first prize of 2009 National Science and Technology Innovation Award for Cultural Relics Preservation .
