In the afternoon on Dec 27, the Hydromechanical Coupling Academic Salon is jointly held by Graduates’ Union of School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of Wuhan University and Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM). The salon attracts students from Wuhan University, IRSM and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

At the beginning of the salon, the host makes a brief introduction about the background, topic of the salon and guests present at the salon. Experts including YUAN Wei, LI Haoran, WANG Shuang, LI Jiangshan, ZHOU Jiazuo, HENG Shuai, LIU Wei, YANG Lanqiang, DUAN Shuqian from IRSM are all present at the academic salon as guest representatives. Director LI Haibo from Wuhan University and Deputy Director CHENG Li from School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of Wuhan University make a speech on the salon.

At the second stage of the academic salon, outstanding doctor representatives make academic reports on the meeting. Doctor YUAN Wei from IRSM is invited to report on  Application of Strength Reduction Method in the Analysis of CCS Mechanics Stability and the Simulation of Crack Propagation under the Effect of H-T-M.

The third stage of the academic salon is topic discussion. Students from IRSM and other universities have a heated discussion. At the end of the academic salon, XU Qing gives a report on two topics, Seepage in Fractured Rock and  Stress-Strain Coupling Mechanism and its application in Xiaowan Project.

In the discussion, Graduates’ Union of Wuhan University and IRSM hope that they will reinforce cooperation and communication in future.
