At the invitation of SKLGME, Dr. YUE Zhongqi, professor of the department of civil engineering at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Canada legal geotechnical engineer, visited IRSM on April 13th, delivered an academic report with the title Discuss three important factors for prevention and control of landslide disaster in the world. The meeting was hosted by researcher SHENG Qian, researcher WEI Changfu, WANG Hao, MIN Hong and other relative people attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Prof. YUE Zhongqi emphasized the correct, accurate and comprehensive understanding of the causes and mechanism is the main basis for exploration, design, construction and maintenance of landslide disaster prevention. Later, he used a large number of examples to introduce three important factors for prevention and control of landslide disaster in the world. Through the methods and experience of landslide prevention in Hong Kong, further analyzed and discussed the current main problems of landslide disaster prevention and control theory and feasible method to solve these problems.

Prof. YUE Zhongqi achieved bachelor degree of seismogeology in Peking University in 1983, achieved master degree of geodynamics in Peking University in 1986, and achieved doctorate in Canada in 1992. He had worked in China, Canada and Hong Kong for engineering practice nearly a decade. Over the past 30 years, he has done a lot of engineering and scientific research, obtained a series of original discoveries, methods, rules and theories. He has written and published more than 400 papers and technical reports, more than 240 scientific web posts, and two American inventions.
