From Nov.4th to 6th, Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering Chen Zongji Lecture in 2016 and Stratified Rock Slope Catastrophe Theory and the Stability Control Technique Workshop was held in Wuhan. The Workshop is hold by CSRME and IRSM & SKLGME, undertaken by Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering editorial department, co-host by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), School of Civil Engineering and Architecture (Wuhan University of Technology). There are more than 220 delegates from all over the country attended the workshop. Opening ceremony is hold by Song Shengwu, vice-chairman of CSRME, Director of IRSM Researcher Li Haibo represents sponsor and President of CSRME Feng Xiating represents CSRME to have speeches. The award ceremony included the most influential domestic academic papers in Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering in 2016, 2015 outstanding reviewing experts and 2016 outstanding papers. Academician HE Manchao and President Feng Xiating award for the winners.

The workshop invites the famous geotechnical engineering expert Academician He Manchao as speaker, delivers the report about catamaran disaster mechanics research based on the Newton force. China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) Researcher Cai Qingxiang and CUMT (Beijing) have the theme reports, respectively, name connotation and construction and application prospect of large open-air coal mine aging slope theory, and stability analysis for open-air iron mine joint rock slope. One of the winners of 2016 outstanding papers, Prof. Shan Renliang delivers a report.

In addition, workshop also invites eight experts to do the invited lectures, it includes Prof. Zhou Chuangqing, Prof. Tang Huiming, Prof. Li Jianlin, Researcher Chen Congxin, Prof. Yang Qiang, Researcher Zheng Hong, Researcher Wang Xiaogang, Researcher Wu Aiqing. Also, there are other ten professors deliver the reports.

On Nov. 5th night, there is a meeting for the 8th editorial committee of Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Researcher Liu Caihua delivers 2016 Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering work report. The committee has a discussion for exist problems, next development targets, and making further improvement on influence.
