1st GEOSAFE2016 Held Successfully

From May 25th to 27th, the 1st International Symposium on Reducing Risk in Site Investigation, Modeling and Construction for Rock Engineering (GEOSAFE2016) is held successfully in Xi'an. The chairman of ISRM Dr. Eda Quadros, the winner of the highest prize of ISRM Professor E.T.Brown and Dr. Nick Barton, ISRM Fellow and ex-vice President Academician QIAN Qihu, ISRM ex-President Researcher FENG Xiating, ISRM vice President Academician HE Manchao, Professor Seokwon Jeon, Professor Sergio Fontoura, Professor Norikazu Shimizu and other researchers, a total of 275 in all attend the symposium. Representatives come from America, English, Canada, France and so forth (a total of 17 countries and areas).

The Symposium is hosted by ISRM, CSRME and CAS, co-undertaken by SKLGME (IRSM), Xi'an University of Technology, Key Laboratory of Electromagnetic Processing of MaterialsMinistry of Education (Northeastern University).

The Symposium focuses on the in site investigation, modeling and construction for rock engineering, discusses several aspects' frontier research subjects. The academic conference has honorary guest reports, invited lectures and several grouping technique reports. In addition, the symposium also invites Dr. Nick Barton and Professor John Cosgrove to have a one-day short course for the representatives. This academic conference promotes the theory development of global in site investigation, modeling and construction for rock engineering, has important significance for theory and technology development of rock engineering analysis, design and operation management.
