From Oct 23rd to 25th, the 14th National Conference on Rock Dynamics and Engineering Security and Protection Workshop held in Guangzhou. The conference was sponsored by CSRME commission for rock dynamics mechanics, engineering safety and protection branch, hosted by Guangzhou Military Air Force Engineering Construction Bureau, co-organized by IRSM, China University of Mining and Technology, the PLA University of Science and Technology's state key laboratory of explosion shock disaster prevention and mitigation, China Earthquake Administration's key laboratory of earthquake monitoring and technology, the key laboratory of earthquake early warning and major projects safety diagnosis, Brugg (Chengdu) engineering co., LTD., and Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and engineering. There were more than 150 domestic and international experts and scholars which involve water conservancy and hydropower, coal oil, transportation, mining, municipal construction fields attended this conference.
The opening ceremony was hosted by co-chairman, director of engineering safety and protection branch, the PLA University of Science and Technology Professor Wang Mingyang. Chairman of the committee, Air Force Engineering Construction Bureau deputy director Wang Yudong gave the welcome speech. Co-chairman, director of Commission for Rock Dynamic, deputy of IRSM researcher Li Haibo delivered an opening speech. Vice President of CSRME, vice chairman of ISRM, academician of Chinese Academy of Science Professor He Manchao, famous scholar in the international rock dynamic field, Monash University Professor Zhao Jian had important speeches. The conference received congratulations from Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhou Fulin, and Vice Presidient of CSRME Professor Fan Qixiang, Chief Editor of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering Professor Giovanni Barla attended the conference as well.
This conference special invited Academician Gu Jincai, Academician He Manchao, Professor Giovanni Barla, Professor Wang Ming delivered special reports. In addition, there were 32 representatives gave their academic reports, content involved the dynamic characteristics of rocks and the constitutive relation, wave propagation and attenuation law, rock burst and the mechanism of impact ground pressure, rock dynamic numerical analysis and simulation, test method and technology, and the application of rock dynamic in the economy construction. Delegates had high-level standard of academic reports, some young scholars' reports cause the many experts' attention. This conference promotes the development of rock dynamics.
The conference had received 108 essays, approved by the academic committee, there were 98 articles were recommended to the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering. After reviewed by experts, there were 10 articles would be published on the 10th journal 2015, 10 articles would be published on the supplement, acceptance rate exceeds 20%, better than the normal submissions and other journals acceptance rate of the essay. From this side, it is also can reflect the academic level of this conference. After conference academic committee review, there were 13 young scholars awarded the prize of excellent papers.
During the conference, the third meeting of the commission for 7th rock mechanics was held, arranged the specific tasks and goals of the committee, discussed about collaborative innovation, and common development. At the same time, they also discussed about how to organize the Second International Conference on Rock Dynamics and Applications, the 5th conference of national engineering security and protection. In the meeting, they also decided the 15th national conference on Rock Dynamics would be held in Wuhan in 2017. As recommended by old members and unit, the rock dynamics committee augmented 5 members.
The closing ceremony was hosted by secretary Huang Lixing and Professor Wang Derong, Professor Wang Mingyang delivered closing speech.
