From Jul. 4th to 7th, 2015 International Forum on GeoEngineering, which includes the current Presidents, secretary-generals of International Association for Geo-Engineering, International Society for Rock Mechanics, IAEG, International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and International Geosynthetic society, held in Northeastern University, Shenyang, and the event passed off successfully. This conference is hosted by International Society for Rock Mechanics, undertaken by Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and Northeastern University State Key Laboratory of Deep Metalliferous Mining Safety, Ministry of Education, Director-General of SKLGME, former chairman of International Society for Rock Mechanics, FENG Xiating takes the chair. In addition, there are more than 130 representatives of domestic and international academic institutions attend this international conference.

On Jul. 4th, Presidium Meeting is hosted by the chairman of International Association for Geo-Engineering, Jean-Louis Briaud. During the meeting, members listen to the work reports for 4 international societies, discuss and arrange next work, Researcher FENG Xiating proposes the scheme about how to carry on geotechnical engineering research in 4 societies, and strongly support by joint association members.

On Jul. 5th, conference ceremony is hold in Northeastern University, hosted by Researcher FENG Xiating. The theme of this conference is New Theory, New Technique, New Achievement of Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, Soil Mechanics and Geosynthetics, and have academic exchange for the latest progress and future development tendency. During the conference, Professor Jean-Louis Briaud, president of International Association for Geo-Engineering, Professor Neil Taylor, secretary-generals of International Association for Geo-Engineering, Researcher FENG Xiating, former president of International Society for Rock Mechanics, Professor Luis Lamas, secretary-general of International Society for Rock Mechanics, Professor Scott Burns, president of IAEG, Professor Wu Faquan, secretary-general of IAEG, Professor Russell Jones, president of International Geosynthetic society, Professor Chungsik Yoo, vice-chairman of International Geosynthetic society, Professor Nick Barton, who won the Muller Award of International Society for Rock Mechanics, Professor Seokwon Jeon, Asian vice-chairman of International Society for Rock Mechanics, and other domestics and overseas scholars have reports, and have discussion with participants and experts.

This forum is an academic event in the field of geotechnical engineering, it creates opportunities to have direct communication in the highest levels, closer the distance of engineering geology, rock mechanics, soil mechanics and other disciplines, push forward the geotechnical subject constantly. In the meanwhile, this forum promotes China's influence in the field of geotechnical engineering research in the world, and also create more opportunities for the domestic and foreign scientific research institutions to carry out exchanges and cooperation between different disciplines.
