On Nov 4th, The Start-up and Research Scheme Consulting Conference of Strong Swelling Soil Canal Treatment Technology Program is held successfully in Wuhan, the program is one of the 12th Five-Year Technology Support Plan Program. The meeting is hosted by IRSM, CAS, jointly held by Changjiang Institution of Survey Planning, Design and Research, Hohai University, The Second Design and Research Institution of Water Conservancy and Hydropower of Hebei Province, Construction and Administration Bureau of South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project, etc.
Well-known experts from consulting expert group, relevant leaders and representatives have attended the meeting.
Wang Daguo, secretary of the Party Committee of IRSM, delivers welcoming speech. Researcher Chen Shanxiong, who is in charge of the program, introduces general research scheme. Afterwards, heads of each special part report their research content and implementation scheme in detail. Experts at present discuss enthusiastically on the program, they fully affirmed the research innovation and feasibility of the research scheme, putting forward valuable suggestions.
This program will study on Strong Swelling Soil Canal Deformation Failure Mechanism and treatment technology, which is urgently needed in South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project, it aims to prove basic engineering character, atmospheric environment and groundwater environment of strong swelling soil, to how stress state changes impact on strong swelling soil canal slope stress, deformation and strength. The program will reveal failure and deformation law of strong swelling soil canal slope, treatment technology will be proposed afterwards. The research achievements are to be used to optimize the treatment scheme of strong swelling soil canal in Middle Route Project.
