On the Closing Ceremony of the 12th ISRM International Congress on Rock Mechanics, Researcher Feng Xiating officially takes up the post of ISRM President. Feng is the director of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, IRSM(Wuhan), CAS.

Former ISRM President John A Hudson and Present ISRM President deliver Term Report and Inaugural Report Separately. The Handover Ceremony is also held on the Closing Ceremony, Professor John A Hudson forwards to Feng Xiating the stick and ribbon as symbols of President. Professor John A Hudson reviews and concludes his work during tenure period. In his inaugural report, Feng Xiating expresses that he will devote himself to the following aspects:

1.Strengthen information construction, provide more Internet resources to members, promote resources sharing;

2.Improve the recognition and application scope of ISRM Suggested Method, promote its spread and application;

3.Encourage more young scholars to participate in ISRM academy activities;

4.Promote communication between ISRM members and country groups;

5.Take active measures to make ISRM more responsible, more efficient, more attractive and more open;

Strengthen team construction, promote the steady increase of ISRM member and country group quantity, call on all country groups and members to unite and join the big family of ISRM, jointly contribute to the construction of the more prosperous and active ISRM.
