Project launching workshop held in Wuhan on 27 Dec 2009

Focusing on revealing the inducing and evolution mechanism of great disasters in deep engineerings and establishing the theoretical system for prediction and controlling during their temporal-spatial evolution, ‘Theories on Evolution Mechanism and Dynamical Control of Great Disasters in Deep Engineerings’ had been recently approved as one of the National Basic Research Program in 2009 by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.

The National Basic Research Program (also called 973 Program) is China's on-going national keystone basic research program, which was approved by the Chinese government in June 1997 and organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

‘Theories on Evolution Mechanism and Dynamical Control of Great Disasters in Deep Engineerings’, presided by IRSM, congregates researchers in the field of deep rock mechanics and engineering all over China to accomplish its research objects. Professor FENG Xiating from IRSM had been approved as the chief scientist for this project.
