To enhance the cooperation between the two institutions on Geomechanics and Geoengineering,  2nd IRSM-HKU Forum on Geomechanics and Geoengineering was held in the University of Hongkong, 17 May 2009. More than 40 researchers and students attended the Forum.

From resercher to postgraduate student, these two levels meets on the Forum. The cooperation between IRSM and HKU has a long history, in order to continue such a excellence tradition, the two institution came to an agreement on such a academic activities which will be held once a year. 1st IRSM-HKU Forum on Geomechanics and Geoengineering had been held in Wuhan, sep 2008.
