On June 27, Prof. Ming Lu, the chief scientist of Rock and Soil Mechanics, SINTEF Technology Society had took an academic visit to the Institute and gave a short course on ”Special problems with subsea tunnels”. Prof. Xia-ting Feng, Prof. Hai-bo Li, Prof. Wei-zhong Chen and Dr. Jian Liu had attended the seminar.

As an expert on subsea tunnel design, survey and construction, professor Lu had introduced the present situation of Norway’s subsea tunnel. From the applied technology to the problems of the subsea tunnels, Prof. Lu had given the audience a particular point of view with subsea tunnels.

SINTEF is the largest independent contract research organization in Scandinavia and the 4th largest in Europe. SINTEF applies research to produce new knowledge and innovative solutions in technology, the natural sciences, medicine and the social sciences. With the willing of explore the Chinese market, Prof. Lu proposed to establish a well cooperative relations between IRSM, CAS and SINTEF.
