On April 10th, at the invitation of IRSM, Professor WU Wei, from Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Hazards, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, visits IRSM and gives a special report with the title Experimental and numerical study on face stability of shallow tunnel in unsaturated ground. Researcher KONG Lingwei attends and hosts the report.

Professor WU Wei stars from rationale of unsaturated soils, introduces shallow buried tunnel's unsaturated soils in details, includes lining methods, photography detecting the displacement of soil particles and indirect determination of saturation technology, etc; in addition, Professor WU also discuss using a variety of numerical simulation method of shallow buried tunnel stability; finally, as the chief editor and founder of international geotechnical engineer magazine, Acta Geotecnica, he has an exchange communication of writing technique of scientific papers with young researchers, postgraduate and PHD students.

Professor WU Wei, is one of the 4 geotechnical engineering professors in Austria, chief editor and founder of international geotechnical engineer magazine, Acta Geotecnica. He graduated from School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering (now Wuhan University) for his Bachelor's Degree in 1982, major is structural engineering. He finished his Master's Degree in Xi'an University of Technology, major is Geotechnical Engineer. And he graduated from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany) for his PHD, major is Geotechnical Engineer as well. He does the research for soil mechanics and international geotechnical engineering practice for long time, has rich theoretical knowledge and practical engineering experience. Now he is doing EU project: environmental geotechnics research in Central Asia, Austria project: environmental geotechnics research in Vienna. And he has published 111 academic papers (more than 60 in SCI), 5 monographs and coauthors.
