Professor Richard E. Goodman, Professor Nicholas Sitar and Doctor SHI Genhua from University of California – Berkeley visits IRSM on April 28. Professor Richard E. Goodman is a famous expert in rock mechanics and engineering; he is also a member of NEA. Professor Nicholas Sitar is chairman of Department of Civil Engineering in UCB.

Director JIAO Yuyong from scientific research department of IRSM hosts the symposium and makes a brief introduction of IRSM. More than 10 experts and scientific researchers from IRSM attend the conference and have further communication with professors from UCB. Professor Goodman discuss with researcher LI Xiaochun on CO2 geological storage technology, professor Nicholas Sitar introduces the development situation of Civil Engineering Department of UCB, and puts forward suggestions to paper writing. Professor Goodman and Sitar also put forward some suggestions to the development of journals including Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Rock and Soil Mechanics, and Journal of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
