The China Australia Geological Storage of CO2 (CAGS) Project is a collaborative, bilateral project between Australia and China. CAGS Phase two has a total of A$1.39 million of funding for its programs, which will be carried out over the period 2012-2014. The project aims to help accelerate the development and deployment of geological storage of carbon dioxide in both China and Australia.

The second carbon storage training school is held in Nanjing from 15 to 17 May. The training school is organized by ACCA21 and JSPC. Lecturers are from institutes and universities at home and abroad, including IRSM; Center for Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology Survey, CGA; China University of Geosciences (Wuhan); Geoscience Australia; Australian National Low Emissions Coal Research & Development; Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies; The University of New South Wales; GNS Science, New Zealand; British Geological Survey; and The University of Texas at Austin. As the senior teacher of the CAGS training school, researcher LI Qi gives a report of Environmental Risk Assessment of CO2 Geological Storage: A State-of-the-art Survey.

The school covers many aspects of the geological storage of CO2, including: CCUS Overview; Onshore and Offshore Geological Storage and Capacity Assessment; Risk and Safety Assessment and Monitoring; Social and Economic issues in CCS.
