On May 15, Doctor ZHUANG Changxian, editor of Engineering Geology visits Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM) and delivers an academic report.

The academic report of Professor ZHUANG uses the unique landslide in No.3 highway in Taiwan as an example, and introduces stochastic back analysis of slope landslide. By comparing the analysis results based on Markov Monte Carlo and maximum likelihood theory, Professor ZHUANG puts forward optimized simple model back analysis principle, he then explains to the audiences the effect of stochastic analysis and the concept of reliability. Meanwhile, as the joint editor of Engineering Geology, Professor ZHUANG gives an introduction about the journal and notices of contribution, he encourage researchers to contribute to the journal.

Professor ZHUANG Changxian got his Doctor's Degree of Civil Engineering in Purdue University, he has long been engaged in the research on rock and soil engineering, rock and soil reliability theory and application. ZHUANG is now the Glenn Professor of Clemson University and joint editor of Engineering Geology. He had served as the chairman of Rock and Soil Engineering Risk Evaluation and Management Technology Committee of America, Professor of School of Civil Engineering of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and guest professor in National Cheng Kung University.
