On July 6 to 9, 2011, The Fourth International Conference on Couple T-H-M-C Processes in Geosystems(GeoProc2011) is held in University of Western Australia, relevant experts from America, Japan, Canada, Spain, Australia, England, Sweden, Finland, Italy, France and Germany have attended the conference. As the supreme conference of couple T-H-M-C processes in geosystems, it is held every three years. Researcher Feng Xiating, president of International Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, director of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, is invited to attend the conference and give invited report Coupled HMC Processes of Rocks: Lab Observations and Site Evaluation. As the president of ISRM, Feng also delivers special lecture concerning challenges of couple HMC processes and action plan of ISRM at the GeoProc2011 banquet, then, he invites all the representatives at the conference to ISRM2011 in Beijing. Feng's lecture receives enthusiastic response from representatives present.

GeoProc2011 is short for International Conference on Couple T-H-M-C Processes in Geosystems: Fundamentals, Modeling and Experiments, it is launched by DECOVALEX(development of coupled models and their validation against experiments). Research on Couple T-H-M-C Processes is one of the most leading subject of rock mechanics in the world, as well as the basic research subject of geologic sequestration of CO2, geologic disposal of nuclear waste, underground storage of energy resource, geothermal exploitation, petroleum exploitation and various rock engineering related to water, such as dam foundation, slope and chamber.

Researcher Feng Xiating is specialized in research of theory and indoor experiment about rock failure process under the effect of Chemical-Permeation-Mechanical couple, his research team participates in Study on CO2 Storage in Saline Water Sandstone Layer, major international cooperation program of international cooperation research plan DECOVALEX and National Natural Science and Technology Foundation, the team also makes breakthrough in indoor experiment and constitutive model. The working achievements of Feng's team will provide theory support and field technology basis to major research programs about couple THMC progresses at home and abroad, such as nuclear waste disposal and CO2 storage in saline water. The communication and cooperation in this international conference brings important significance to the implement of energy saving and emission reduction in our country.

Besides, researcher Feng Xiating gives the report Challenges in Modeling THMC Coupling Processes of Rocks concerning the theme Sustainable Energy Resource System-Finding Solution through Multi-Subject Combination, as the response to invitation from Senior Research Institute of UWA, the report is enthusiastically responded.
